Castellow Hammock Park

Located in the heart of the Redland Agricultural area the nature Center is named after James Castellow an early South Florida homesteader and citrus farmer. The park, Miami-Dade's first environmental education center, has long been a hotspot for nature lovers in Miami-Dade.

Inside the nature center both the agricultural nature and pioneering spirit of James Castellow is captured through art. The resident artist encourages artistic interpretation of trees and wildlife of the Redland. Outside a large hummingbird & butterfly garden graces the front of the park, and is a focal point for guests with a desire to see hummingbirds and a wide variety of butterflies. A tropical hardwood forest covers most of the park, and a half-mile self-guided nature trail offers guests an exciting view of life in the Hammock. Over 120 bird species have been reported in the park, along with 70 species of butterflies.
